The St Hubert Club of Great Britain was founded in 1953 and is the oldest deer stalking organisation in the UK. The aim of the club was and remains excellence in the ethical management of deer. We are pioneers in training, having introduced the UK’s first training scheme for deer stalkers. Our commitment to training remains and our members benefit from a world class mentoring programme.
We are a national organisation with members all over the UK. Our clubhouse, located in Norfolk, serves as hub for coordinating membership activities.

Becoming a Member
To join the club, applicants must submit a membership application form to the membership secretary. The application should include the names of either two current club members or two independent referees who can vouch for the applicant.
You will then be invited to an interview and, if approved, put forward to members to become a probationary member. You will remain a probationer for two years. During this time active participation in club events is expected. After the two-year period, your name will be proposed for full membership.

Our Stalking Licence Scheme
This affords the opportunity to stalk five species of deer on club grounds. The stalking is typically based around our clubhouse in Norfolk. Each member is assigned to a specific weekend group, granting them five weekends per season. During these weekends, members can engage in stalking activities both on the ground and in high seats, aided and accompanied by an experienced instructor.
Members taking out a stalking licence must have successfully completed the free one-day induction course, have passed an annual shooting test, and hold a current firearms certificate with the relevant conditions for deer stalking.
Your Mentoring Journey
We warmly welcome members of all skill levels, from those who are new to stalking to seasoned and experienced stalkers. Any member obtaining a stalking licence joins the club’s structured training process. This is a very affordable and accessible way to become a qualified deer stalker.
Your journey starts at the foundational level of our training. After a successful induction, members progress at their own pace toward achieving the St Hubert Club Competent Stalker Certificate which is a LANTRA Award. Throughout this journey, senior club members provide dedicated support and mentorship at every step. Our expectation is that you cull at least ten deer successfully before becoming a qualified stalker.
The St Hubert Club has a long tradition of excellence in training, members are expected to partake in regular events and are tested on their theoretical and practical knowledge. Members are encouraged to take DSC 2 as part of their training and the club is able to help with approved witnesses.
Other Club Activities
Members do not have to take out a stalking licence and can participate in a wide variety of social activities during the year. These include:
• Training days at the Euston & Bisley ranges
• Members meetings and meals some held at clubs in London
• Club BBQ and deer head measuring event
• Long range shooting days, clay pigeon shooting, visits to gunmakers, the Birmingham Proof House, butchery demonstrations, etc.
• Exclusive stalking opportunities organised for members at estates throughout the country
